Charleston and Engagement Pictures

Last weekend, Taylor and I ventured down to Charleston. It was my first trip and it was just beautiful. Downtown Charleston was also the perfect place to take some engagement pictures. Our friend Helene Dujardin is an amazing photographer and very generously offered to take some photos for us.

Taylor is usually on the viewfinder side of the camera, so I think he really enjoyed getting a chance to model and ham it up for the camera. The high-fiving pose was his idea and I think his favorite picture of the weekend.

We did try to take some serious pictures, as well.

We are both so thrilled at how they turned out.

Taylor isn’t even wild about holding my hand in public when other people can see, so kissing me in front of a camera was a big step for him!

We were in the prettiest little church garden for these pictures and the flowers and trees were so beautiful. We didn’t even mind the gravestones scattered throughout.

And like I always do with my food, I saved my favorites for last, so think of these last two pictures as the gooey part of the pizza crust, after you’ve eaten the cheese and the sauce already. Yum!

More from Charleston coming soon!

Are you breaking up with me?

“This is the story all about how my life got twisted, turned upside down and I’d like to take a minute, just sit right there, I’ll tell you how I got engaged to that guy right there.”

I could make you read the entire story, but Taylor and I have always been visual learners. We bonded and fell in love by watching tv together. So, the best way for me to tell you the story of our engagement is with a video.

In case you missed it in the video, I’ve always told Taylor that if he was going to break up with me, he had to write it on a cake (I know, genius business idea, please don’t steal it), so when I saw a cake in his refrigerator, my first thought was ‘oh no, he’s breaking up with me.’ Luckily he wasn’t and my worries very quickly became excitement.

Here’s what the cake actually said and looked like. He’s very sneaky, but even more thoughtful to go all the way Goldsboro just to make me think he was breaking up with me.

He drove 8 hours total on Wednesday just to get the cake. He was in Goldsboro for less than 10 minutes and even my own family didn’t know he was there. See? That’s a long, boring drive.

Now on to the fun part- PLANNING! If you have any advice on planning a wedding, feel free to share it with us! I’ll leave you with another fun photo or two!

If you can guess who took the pictures and who did the writing, I’ll let you come to the wedding…
